About Our Judges

June 2018 - Jürgen Lobert

                 

Biographic Sketch 

Jürgen Lobert is a Massachusetts-based fine art photographer born and raised in Germany. He received a Ph.D. in atmospheric chemistry from Gutenberg University in Mainz before moving to the US in 1991.

Jürgen is a self-taught photographer who specializes in night photography and daytime long exposures as well as urban exploration.

According to Jürgen, there is a profound peace in
roaming the nights in remote places to capture otherworldly, hauntingly beautiful and serene scenery and the element of time.

Jürgen is an executive member of the Boston and Stony Brook Camera Clubs and the founder and organizer of the Greater Boston Night Photographers Meetup group. He organizes some 50 photo excursions and workshops each year and he is a lecturer, instructor and judge for regional camera clubs and an instructor at the New England School of Photography (NESOP). His artwork is in the permanent collection of the Art Complex Museum.

September 2017 - Denise Bush (Ridgeway, CO)

Denise earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Moore College of Art and Design, and has worked as a Graphic Designer for over 30 years. Photography is Denise’s fine art medium of choice. She is an exclusive contributor at iStockphoto and Getty images and her art prints can be purchased through Fine Art America. Denise participates in juried exhibits and competitions often and has accumulated many awards over the years. She has acted as a photography judge for juried exhibits and more than 16 camera clubs and organizations including the Photographic Society of America. Denise also teaches workshops, leads photo tours and offers one-on-one digital photography training.

 


August 2017 - Stephen Coleman (Hattiesburg, MS)

Stephen Coleman is an award-winning photojournalist with 34 years of experience that include adventures such as the 1987 Winter International Special Olympics and the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.  He has worked for several newspapers and is currently an instructor for the School of Mass Communication and Journalism and the University of Southern Mississippi where he teaches multimedia, graphic design and photography classes.    Coleman also takes photographs for the Associated Press and is on the board of the Hattiesburg area camera club, Camaraderie and the Hattiesburg Arts Council.

July 2017 - Steve Reeves (Dallas, TX)

Steve Reeves is a photographer and educator from Dallas, Texas.  He owns MakeShift Photography where he and his wife work together. Their studio is located in the Deep Ellum historic district in Dallas where they focus on general photography as well as making and selling their own art.  Their studio provides photographic, printing and educational services.  You can check him out at MakeShiftPhoto.com.

Jerry Atnip is a fine art photographer based in Nashville. His career in photography has spanned 36 years and his photographs are in private, museum and corporate collections all over the world. March 2014 - Roy Sewall (Washington, DC)

Tom Sewall

Roy Sewall transitioned to full-time photography more than a dozen years ago, after a 30-year career with technology companies.  Two of his photography books have been published: Our Potomac, from Great Falls through Washington, D.C. and Great Falls and Mather Gorge. He has been lead photographer on a number of high-profile projects. He now focuses on large fine art prints and is a frequent judge for photo competitions in and around Washington.

Profile:

Laurie Wilson is an award-winning photographer whose current focus is in weddings and fine art portraiture. Although she has only been in business for 4 years, she has been using photography as an artistic medium for most of her life, beginning at age 10, when she received her first camera. Laurie's work has been featured in print nationwide, as well as several local publications.
